A review written for the Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange
by Mike Jurkovic

2014 certainly gets kick started with this jumpin' 'n justifyin', high spirtied romp of country, blues, and gospel by way of BeanTown.

Recorded real live from Boston's Lizard Lounge at exactly 'round this time last year, this "omni-denominational" collective (Whoever thought that one up in the PR offices deserves a free dinner at least for the positive spin) and the the heathens celebrating with them makes for one spirit lifting, joyous mass. The irrepressible queen of the minor key—Eilen Jewell, her whip-sharp band (Beek, Miller, & Sciascia) raise their voices with several of Boston's finest pickers and singers to jitterbug the devil right out your soul. Highlights from this great fourteen song collection is a tad redundant, but I'll start from the beginning with All Night, All Day, Take Me In Your Lifeboat, Satan Your Kingdom Must Fall and You Better Quit Drinking Shine and I'll leave the rest to you.

Track List:

  • All Night, All Day
  • Take Me In Your Lifeboat
  • Lord, I Am The True Vine
  • Morning Train
  • Satan Your Kingdom Must Fall
  • I'm Tired
  • Belshazzar
  • Won't You Come and Sing For Me
  • I'll Remember You Love in My Prayers
  • You Better Quit Drinking Shine
  • You Got To Move
  • Run On
  • Little Black Train
  • When I Get Home I'm Gonna Be Satisfied
