A review written for the Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange
by Bob Gottlieb

This is Su Livingston's second CD and first solo project and it sounds as if she has been doing this forever. She is the writer, singer, pianist, and co-producer of this remarkable and thought provoking disc. There is a great power and strength in her voice that comes through on all the songs, she wrote six of them and co-wrote the other five with David May She is aided by some powerful and sensitive playing by some of LA's finest studio players: musicians such as; Jay Bellerose and Fritz Lewak—drums; bass—Mark Browne, David Sutton Jen Condos and David May; guitars—Greg Leisz; keyboards—Patrick Warren; and cello—Richard Dodd; her co-producer is Paul DuGre.

There is strength and maturity in every facet of this disc and it is one that doesn't seem to want to leave the changer. The songs seem to make a strong connection and deal in a positive way with the little bumps that seem to sprout up in the road without ever letting the bumps get the upper hand. This is a disc by someone who should be heard from more on every level. The uncommon strength and maturity in the work truly lives up to the title of the disc, The Wild Within.
