This is a collection of songs this prolific writer, producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, has culled from the many he has written that are favorites of his. He has had songs recorded by a wide ranging variety of artists including; Bonnie Raitt, Waylon Jennings, Maria Muldaur, Joe Cocker, Marcia Ball, and Dizzy Gillespie among others. He wrote Shambala, that was a big hit for Three Dog Night, and My Maria, which was a hit (in separate decades) for both B.W. Stevenson and also for Brooks & Dunn. This man has a way with putting words together so that the form an intelligent story without lots of throwaway choruses and repetitions.
He comes form a family that has a plethora of preachers and at one time considered, and studied for, the ministry, and his songs reflect a strong sense of taking responsibility, hope, and living properly without being preachy or steeped in a religious dogma. The music ranges from pop to blues and has a good and diverse feel. There are some songs that might be done by either blues or gospel groups as well as some good rocking tunes that will crowd up the dance floor.
Daniel Moore is more than proficient on a number of instruments and on this disc plays guitars, piano, bass, B-3 organ, and handles much of the vocals. Most of these songs come from his home studio, where he produced and recorded them. These are done just after he has finished writting the song, and he assembles a full band rather than doing a skeletal, bare bones, demo of his song, on just piano or acoustic guitar. There are some fine players on these recordings such as Jesse Ed Davis, Jim Gordon, Tom Fillman, and Dean Parks; they are full-blown recordings ready for the consumer. He is a person who believes in quality and gives it in these offerings, he wrote, sang, and produced these tunes for our enjoyment. The songs are quality, the playing and recording top tier, and though you might not have heard of him, you most likely have heard his work. This is one disc that is worthy of a good chance.
