A review written for the Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange
by Mike Jurkovic

With acclaimed session work and live appearances with a wide range of artists including Patty Loveless, Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Raul Malo, Emmylou Harris, The Chieftains, Elton John, Earl Scruggs, Duane Eddy, John Fogerty, Steve Winwood, and Mose Allison; a fistful of highly regarded solo discs and prestigious awards, Three Ring Circle just may be the best kept secret in the music world.

Until now.

With unrivalled brain and hand coordination, the masterful and mischievous hands of Rob Ickes - dobro, Andy Leftwich - fiddle/mandolin, and bassist Dave Pomeroy innovate as they invigorate not only the listener but several musical genres as well. Incorporating bluegrass, jazz, rock jams, and country with free flowing ideas about the potential of each music, this self described "jamgrass acoustic power trio" delivers a high, high energy debut, one that deserves widespread listening. All ten tracks are sure winners, with my faves being Jeff Beck's You Know What I Mean; Stevie Wonder's groove 'n bouncy Isn't She Lovely; Pomeroy's moody In The Morning and the trio's own Thompson's Camp/Oscar's Dream. Though it's rewarding listening wherever or however you might travel, this one is especially great for the car!
