A review written for the Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange
by Bob Gottlieb

This 35:00 plus minute debut disc gives us a good sampling of the potential of up-and-coming, young singer Nicole Baguer. She co-wrote all 10 songs on the disc with Michelangelo Sosnowiz and they show a remarkable depth and promise. There are times when the voice is overshadowed by the production work on this disc, which is a shame as it seems she has a voice that has a lot of possibilities and an innate feel for some of the material. The production sometimes doesn't always allow this feel to come through. This is the mistake sometimes of a young, or inexperienced singer listening to someone with more experience, but with an ego need to fulfill. There are traces and influences of a lot of theatre in her voice and delivery which can either work for her or be a detriment depending on the material selected. It is about a 50/50 split here. The theatre work at times seems to rob the voice of a richness and fullness that is much more apparent when the theatre training doesn't get in the way and her voice bursts forth with all its power. This material demands a full strong voice that has a depth to it, and there are a couple of times here that the aforementioned obstacles get in the way, and her voice gets lost and does not carry the conviction that the songs require to put it over effectively. Fortunately, this is not always the case. All this said there is some real promise for this young singer.
