A review written for the Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange
by Mike Jurkovic

By setting to music the words of poets inspired by all the world's major faiths - Rumi, Hafiz, Judah Halevi, Saint Francis and Saint John - Wilcox and Petit have fashioned a quiet rumination devoted to peace. Meditative as well as melodic, the music weaves Americana with Middle Eastern flavor as their warm duets act as mantras and guides to inner resolution.

Produced by former Over The Rhine guitarist Ric Hordinski, musicians joining Wilcox and Petit include Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, and the respected rhythm section of bassist Amos Heller and drummer Josh Seukamp. Highlight tracks include: How Did The Rose Ever Open, Slicing Potatoes, This We Have Now, Three Things, and On A Day When The Wind Is Perfect.

All proceeds from the sale of Out Beyond Ideas benefit the peace work of the University of Maryland Center for International Development and Conflict Management, and Partners in Peacebuilding Projects.
